Pererenan, Bali – 27 September 2024 – Get ready to experience the true spirit of Bali’s surf culture at the Earth Island Surf Fest, a unique surf event designed to bring together the community and industry in a celebration of waves, tradition, and camaraderie. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Pererenan river mouth, the festival aims to take us back to the golden era of Bali’s surf scene from the 70s and 80s.

River-mouth Pererenan will be the host of this unique surf festival. The main idea is to bring everyone together and reminisce about the old feeling of Bali and why we are all here in the first place: the waves, the rice fields, and, of course, the community that built our surf culture on the island.

Event Overview

• Date: October 5-6, 2024
• Location: Pererenan River Mouth, Bali

The festival will feature a competitive team challenge format with a potential maximum of 20 teams participating. Each team will consist of five surfers, and the surfboards must be identical from one team to the other. This is to ensure fairness of equipment for all competitors. The event site will be transformed into a lively space featuring judging towers, music, sustainable workshops, and more. The big idea of the festival is to bring the entire community and industry together, with the event setup being a nostalgic representation of Bali in the 70s and 80s.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the planned events:

• Day 1 (October 5, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM): All teams will surf once in Round 1, and scores will tally to a leaderboard.
• Day 2 (October 6, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM): Round 2 score from this round will be talied with Round 1 score and tally to the final leaderboard and Finals.

 Highlighting Bali’s Surf Heritage

The event will feature a two-day competition format, with teams participating in rounds that test their skill, strategy, and stamina. Each surfer can ride up to five waves, with only the best wave counting towards the final score. The final round will determine the top team, crowning the champions of Earth Island Surf Fest.

In addition to the main team competition, additional prizes will be awarded for:

• Single highest score (Male and Female)
• Best barrel
• Best cutback
• Best style

The event will raise funds for cleaning up the Pererenan river mouth, ensuring that the beaches and ocean are preserved for future generations. The entry fee from each surf team will be donated to Sungai Watch, supporting their cleanup initiatives. All participating teams will contribute their entry fee , which will directly support this cause.
